nwHacks 2019

TYPE: Hackathon + Club Branding
ROLE: Visual Designer
DATE: April 2018-April 2019
nwHacks, short for Northwest Hacks, is a two-day hackathon held at the University of British Columbia. We bring together over 600 students from BC, Washington State and Alberta, along with tech companies, large and small. Read this article or our website to learn more.

We are also launching nwPlus which is the student club associated with nwHacks which will be hosting events related to technology. I worked with two other designers to design nwHacks 2019's visual identity and brand. My role consisted of designing the nwPlus logo, website and visual identity.

Moodboard

nwPlus

We created a moodboard to narrow down a visual direction for the nwPlus website.

Facebook Banner

Based on the moodboard, I created a facebook banner for nwPlus to incorporate the idea of building, making connections and discovering technology.

Logo

In previous years nwPlus was known as a club called StartupStorm. This meant that we needed a new logo and branding for nwPlus. Here are some explorations of the logo that I explored. We wanted to keep the colour consistent with the nwHacks logo.
Here is the final logo we chose for nwPlus. We chose this logo because we wanted people to associate nwHacks with nwPlus.
nwPlus Website
I designed the nwPlus front page to match with the theme of nwHacks. Both the theme of nwHacks and nwPlus compose of representing the west coast, technology, and connecting people.
